Freezing after install, but right before restarting

Asked by sputnik

I can get Ubuntu to install just fine but before it is about to restart it freezes. So I do a hard reset and change the BIOS to boot from the hard disk and it seems to have installed fine. I try to start it but then my screen goes black and I get nothing it's like it's trying to run in an extremely high resolution. Any tips would be very helpful. Thanks.

Sputnik, when your Ubuntu are on try to press "ctrl" "alt" "+" or "ctrl" "alt" "-" to change your X resolution.
If it works then try to reconfigure xserver
Press Ctrl+Alt+F2 make a regular login and then:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
when asked, type your user password
Then restart gdm from terminal:
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
or reboot your pc.

This didn't help at all, but I noticed that when I try to start Ubuntu it disables my Keyboard and mouse.

If you don't give us more detailed info we can give you only a little help...

Have you tried from recovery mode to reconfigure xserver... (see previous answer)... ?

What mean "I can't select safe mode as an item"...?

Can you start from installed Ubuntu... not in safe mode but in normal "mode"?

Can you start from installed Ubuntu... not in safe mode but in normal "mode"?

If you can run Ubuntu in normal mode (with black screen) can you press "ctrl" + "alt" + "F2" to get a terminal session...?
