Mouse Scroll Wheel Configuration question

Asked by Joshie

Hello. I'm very new to Ubuntu. I noticed there isn't an easy way to configure the scroll speed of a scroll wheel on my mouse. I'd like to make it faster. How would one go about that?

Unfortunately, scrolling speed seems to be hard-coded in the widget toolkit (GTK) Ubuntu uses, so there is currently no way to change it. It has already been reported to GNOME (Ubuntu's desktop environment) developers.

For the time of being, you may change the scrolling speed in some applications. For example, if you want to increase the scroll speed in Firefox, point your browser to: about:config, enter 'mousewheel.withnokey' in Filter field, then double-click on 'mousewheel.withnokey.sysnumlines' to change its value to false and adjust the scroll speed by changing 'mousewheel.withnokey.numlines' to desired value (the higher the value, the faster the pages scroll).

Can you help with this problem?
