Asked by rgallego

I have a centrino core duo toshiba laptop, I'm not really sure which version should I install, the standard personal computer or the 64bit AMD and Intel computers.

Thank You.

You need to verify if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit CPU.
As far as I know, "Centrino Core Duo" are 32-bit. On the other hand, "Centrino Core 2 Duo" are 64-bit. Notice the "2".

If you check the specs of the laptop, you will be able to identify the CPU model, then you can check on Wikipedia if it supports 64-bit.
For example, see

My laptop uses the following hardware:

Core Duo T2500 SL8VP (C0)
SL9EH (D0) 2000 MHz 2048 KiB 667 MT/s 12x 0.762/1.3 V 13.1-31 W Socket M FC-µPGA

2GB of DDR2 667Mhz

100 GB SATA hard drive.

Intel graphics chipset 950

Which version is the best for me?

Thank you!

Hello rgallego,

This is an Intel 32-bit processor. So... you should go with the 32-bits offerings (current stable is Feisty). If you run the CD installer, it will select the correct kernel for you.
