Okay, I am a total newbie to Linux. I am trying to hook up a wireless network to my computer, but the computer doesn't seem to be finding the network, whereas the Microsoft computer sitting right next to it found it and is hooked up, so I don't think the netwrok's the problem. What do I need to do to get the computer to recognize the network?

Windows can see the SSID, or was it entered manually?
It's a different problem. If the AP is visible, but Kubuntu cannot see it, it could be a driver problem.
If the AP is not visible, you need of course to set the configuration manually.

I suppose it was entered manually, and I managed to manually set the configuration and figure it out, mostly by accident. Thanks for your help!
