i had the same problem
i sugest geting a second drive, set it as master(im sure there are guides somewhere) and your windows drive as slave, install everthing onto the drive HD(0,0,0) or HDA(whatever shows up), and when you boot it should boot from ubuntu automaticly if you dont pick something first.
make sure your partitioner is set to your empty drive.

Can you help with this problem?
