USB Booting on macbook- no go

Asked by Bradley Young

trying to boot my macbook 10.4 via USB latest 10.10 release..

apparently as the updated version of OSX is set up... USB booting is disabled. (which sucks) anyone know how to enable it? or a workaround? My mac simply WILL NOT recognize the bootable USB as an option.. :/

notes:
I know how to boot.. don't reply telling me I just need to hold the Alt Key :)
I've tried alternative boots like rEFIt
my ISO is good, checked and hashed all proper.

You hold C to CD boot, not ALT

Sighhh. I wish people would have the common sense to at the very least read titles, if not description. Booting from U .. S...B..

Not to be rude. But can anyone in this forum read.. Read the question! I'm not asking how to boot from USB, I'm not trying to make a boot USB.. Done and done. I'm trying to overcome OS issues with EFI on my Mac. READ the question. Lol :)

To be more specific, does anyone know how to force the bootloader into recognizing the USB as a boot option. This is not as easy as it sounds, before responders loop back into suggesting I just look up "boot USB osx" on YouTube :p. My MacBook, along with a few other generations have USB booting disabled as a security issue. This is a root level disable so it doesn't change with OS updates. I know how To boot from usb and can do it on a newer mac or pc in 5 minutes but with mine it Wouldnt matter if i had the artificial intellegence from iRobot on my Flash drive untill i fix this problem..I'm hoping someone who knows mac EFI very well can help as im fairly new to dealing with macs at this level. I apologize if I didn't make this clearer initially.

Found a way to boot directly into EFI via refit and force a boot via USB. If anybody else has similar issue let me know

not going to happen here as I'm not gullible enough to buy mac hardware.

Glad you got the gold
