Ubuntu 10.10 crashes with pulsaudio errors, HDA Intel

Hello all,

On a Dell Latitude E6400 with Intel sound card (82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller), I'm facing following issue.

Randomly, but often after some time of playing audio (mp3/ogg) with Rhythmbox, Exaile or other players, as well as after playing sound in browser (flash in Chromium, Firefox), as well as playing video with sound in VLC, I experience a sound issue.

First, the sound begin to jerk, with some clicks and cuts. Quickly it becomes so cut that listening is simply impossible.
And after that, regularly, the whole system crashes with a freeze of screen, mouse, keyboard, and even audio keeping on playing a loop of 1/2 second.
Only solution here is hard reboot.

In 15 minutes of audio playing, this problems as a ~90% chances to occur, with ~90% chances to freeze the system if I do not stop sound playing quick enough. So when I say randomly, I mean it can occurs after 2 minutes or after 20 minutes, but it always occurs.

I began to investigate on this. Logs, from first sound issue to system crash, are full of "pulseaudio[1564]: ratelimit.c: xx events suppressed"; or "alsa issue" messages.

I followed https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure step by step.
But same issue always occurs.

Also, some suggest to simply disable pulseaudio, but I'm not sure it's the best way to go in my case (http://www.jeffsplace.net/node/12).

I will post in the following, the traces needed.
