truecrypt install error

Asked by Ian on 2010-11-02

This is the error message I get :

Could not open the file /home/ian/.cache/.fr-KWt…/truecrypt-7.0a-setup-x64.
gedit has not been able to detect the character encoding.
Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a character encoding from the menu and try again.

Please help....Oh and I'm a total newbie so please give me step by step instructions(please)

this is where I went http://www.truecrypt.org/downloads and I selected the "standard 64bit" for Linux

I downloaded "easy crypt" from the software center, but it is not opening wz out "true crypt"

easy crypt is not needed! truecrypt comes with a full gui as in windows.
