Downloaded software, and now cannot connect to wireless network

Got Ubuntu 7.4 I just downloaded and installed some updates and programmes, and then my wireless connection stopped working. I can still connect with a cable. Any idea what might have gone wrong, and how I could resolve it?

Sorry Francois - it was not the software that caused it; it turned out to be a hardware problem. Thanks for helping.
