I just aquired this computer and can't do anything because nobody seems to know the adim password. What can I do?

how can i change the admin password if i don't know the current one. I just aquired this computer from my mom and she never did anything like install programs so she does not know the original password

Use your mom normal password (the one you use to login), that is also the admin pass on an ubuntu machine.

just create a new one: open a terminal and enter sudo passwd thats it.

Sorry Mathias, but you missed out the root. It should be:

'sudo passwd root' Enter
Password for wolfpak420: blablabla
Enter NEW Unix Password: enteryournewadminpasswordhere
Repeat: enteryournewadminpasswordhere

But normally you should not even have to create a admin password on a ubuntu machine, as you can do almost all tasks that require admin privileges with sudo..
