recently i upgraded from ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10 , i am getting this error modprobe: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/.../modules.dep what should i do to rectify it?

boot to root recovery mode and run;

sudo depmod -a

Then reboot, be sure the recovery mode you choose is for the latest kernel.
