Can't Play My Music CDs !!!!

Asked by Marc Colley

After putting in an audio CD, the Sound Juicer pops up, it brings up a list of songs, but when I click play, it gives the following error messages:

error #1

Error playing CD.
Reason: Could not get/set settings from/on resource.

error #2

Error playing CD.
Reason: Internal data flow error.

However, I can hear the video clip that plays on nascar.com and I hear normal sounds like when I log on/off Ubuntu.

Help please!

Do audio CDs play in other applications like Rhythmbox and Totem (Movie Player)?

Sound Juicer, Rhythmbox, and Totem all use the GStreamer media framework. If you can get audio CDs working with another player (like Gnome's built-in CD player, gnome-cd), then the problem is with GStreamer and could be solved by reinstalling your GStreamer packages. Otherwise, more details about your CD drive would probably be necessary.

What did not work? gnome-cd? Or reinstalling GStreamer?

Reinstalling GStreamer definitely didn't work and I think gnome-cd didn't work either. I'll try gnome-cd again tonight to be sure and let you know.
