Slow copying

Asked by yunior E.

I have a micro PC RAM 2.3 GHz and 256 with a swap partition (SWA) twice the RAM, I have installed Ubuntu 10.4, when copying is very slow if I use another tool like gnome-commands slightly increases the copying speed, but not much. As I can increase it.
Thank you very much.

Are you copying from the same partition to the same partition? To a file server on the LAN or on the web? To a USB stick?

Details please.....

as part of my earlier answer - ...to format your pendrive as ntfs go to Applications>Disk Utility and select your pendrive.click unmount ; then click format volume and here you can select the filesystem as ntfs.....enjoy :)

Can you help with this problem?
