shipit.ubuntu.com Disk shipping

Asked by Pavel

I want to request the Ubuntu 10.10 disk. I have a trafic-limited internet, so I can't download this operation system from the Internet.
That's why I requested 2 disks, but then I noticed, that if you request 2 or more disks - it's shipping will be very long. So I tried
to request 1 disk, but it says to me that I have already got disk. Really I haven't! I tried to create new account but it doesn't help! How can I really get 1 Ubuntu disk? Thanks.

Honestly I've gotten one disk in the mail before and it still took awhile, what exactly is the system saying? That they sent one or that you have it? Because it might just mean they shipped it

It says that I have disk. But really I haven't. I knew about this site only 3 days ago! I used windows, but now I want to try LInux.

I don't understand how it says that, because my status does not say I have the disks at all and I have 3, it says:

1 CDs requested on 2007-11-07. 1 CDs were approved and sent to the shipping company on 2007-11-12. Please note requests usually take from 4 to 6 weeks to deliver, depending on the country of shipping.

1 CDs requested on 2008-11-25. 1 CDs were approved and sent to the shipping company on 2008-11-30. Please note requests usually take from 4 to 6 weeks to deliver, depending on the country of shipping.

1 CDs requested on 2010-07-07. 1 CDs were approved and sent to the shipping company on 2010-07-11. Please note requests usually take from 4 to 6 weeks to deliver, depending on the country of shipping.

Can you copy and paste? I don't think there is anyway to cancel especially if it's been shipped. Maybe someone here can advise?

"Already received too many shipments

Demand for Ubuntu CDs is very high, and we're trying to ensure that we have enough CDs for those who really need one. We've noticed that you've already received CDs of several previous Ubuntu releases. You can help us ensure the continued availability of Ubuntu CDs by

    * upgrading to the new release without a CD
    * downloading your own CD for free
    * becoming an Ubuntu member by contributing to Ubuntu, and thereby becoming eligible for more CDs

Thanks for your support of Ubuntu!"

But I haven't got disks! I requested 2, but cancelled next hour or two. Then I tried to request 1 disk - and it showed me that post.

Okay, the maximum requests allowed is 2 discs (could be wrong) which is why you're getting that message. I'm guessing the system doesn't recognize that you have canceled or didn't register that you canceled. I would suggest attempting to contact someone (ubuntu.com/contact-us) if we can't get you a resolution here.

Hello Pawanpreet, as you may/may not have noticed this current question has been marked as solved. In the future you may want to create your own question for anything you may run into or need an answer to. Unfortunately, here is not going to be where you would have put in a request for a free cd, we had a specific spot for that. However, I regret to inform you that the free disc program, or ShipIt as it was called, is no longer being offered. You can purchase the official cd from Canonical, or an alternate site such as on-disk.com. If you do not have the means for this you may be able to get a hold of your LoCo team, or Local Community team , if they are in your area (http://loco.ubuntu.com/) and see if they have any disks then can give you. Hope this helps!
