Google Earth in Ubuntu 10.10 starts then closes

I have successfully converted the .bin version of Google Earth to a .deb using medibuntu and installing it with Ubuntu Software Center. Upon launch, the first two screens appear and after a few seconds disappear.
Suggestions?
