I can not get my new laptop to suspend or hibernate. I do not have these in the "Shut down" menu like I do on my netbook. When I press the Fn + F4 key combo, I get an error message that the suspend had failed.

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit on a Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820T laptop. I have set it up in a dual boot with Win7. Win7 will "sleep" and "hibernate" which means suspend and hibernate are supported by the hardware. This also indicates it is an OS problem with Ubuntu.

Can you help with this problem?
