how do I remove Linux ubuntu OS from my laptop?

I want to erase ubuntu from my laptop and install windows instead.

Then boot to the Windows install CD. Tell the installer to delete the partitions and install Windows as you like. Deleting the partitions will destroy the data they contain so be sure your latest backup contains all the data you require BEFORE starting the procedure.

You don't need to remove Ubuntu before installing Windows.

Installing Windows (and opting to format the hard drive in the process) will erase everything which is currently on your drive, including Ubuntu.

I would suggest finding a good guide on installing your version of Windows, preferably from the manufacturer of your computer, before starting the process. Finding drivers for each of your devices after a fresh install of Windows can be challenging if you've never done it before (for example, your wireless network card may not work until you install a driver for it).
