Hi!

Please open Edit > Preferences in Ekiga, then click on Video > Devices, and try to change Input Device.

Do you have already tried your webcam with the cheese package...?

@Mario

I tried try to change Input Device from Edit > Preferences | Video > Devices and found my two choices as:

HP Webcam (PTLIB/V4L)
HP Webcam (PTLIB/V4L2)

Switching to either setting did not help.

@Marco

I do not know what the "cheese package" is? Can you clarify?

@ Marco

I looked up the cheese package, found it in Synaptics package manager, installed it and it works! I was able to take a photograph using it. Why would my webcam work with this cheese package yet not with Ekiga?

@ Conan

Mark option View > Show call panel, then try again to switch between devices in Edit > Preferences | Video > Devices. You can also mark all options in Preferences > Video > Codecs.

@Mario

Your suggestion:

"Mark option View > Show call panel, then try again to switch between devices in Edit > Preferences | Video > Devices. You can also mark all options in Preferences > Video > Codecs."

has not worked for getting webcam connection using Ekiga. However, I am able to take snapshots using the Cheese Webcam Booth.

@ All

Since I have connection to my webcam to take snapshots I consider my problem solved for now. I reserve the option to revisit this issue when I wish to explore videoconferencing.

Thanks for your help.
