Blu-Ray in 10.04 and up

Asked by Brison Harvey

I was reading the document on how to play Blu-Ray on Ubuntu. I wasn't sure if the directions could be applied to 10.04 or not. If so, which directions do I follow and are there any modifications that I need to make. I have an internal Blu Ray player and I have PowerDVD software for Windows. If I can find a solution for this issue, I think I will move soley into Ubuntu! Thanks in advance.

To play blu ray on Ubuntu is currently very complicated.
The methods you will find online should work, but it's nothing comparable with what PowerDVD can offer in my opinion.
I have the same problem, and after trying a couple of tricks to play Blu ray in Ubuntu, I still prefer to double boot and use Windows 7 to play my Blu rays. Maybe a software will come to do that without any problem, but currently it's a pain.

You have the LxBDplayer to play bluray on Linux, it's probably the best solution. But it requires to install complementary softwares to break the encryption... So it's not a one click solution. Also, the interface is very simple for the moment, so there is nothing like all the options from PowerDVD. But you can have a look, maybe it's enough for you ?

Can you help with this problem?
