You can run:

sudo apt-get --purge autoremove

As your output says.

The system is saying they are no longer needs so you can save some space by getting rid of them.

Thank you. that's done:

I note that I still have in my Video Folder a Folder called BBC iPlayer and so far I have not been able to delete it:-

How is this done?

Do it in nautilus, should be fine. If it won't budge then run:

gksudo nautilus

and you can then delete it

What does nautilus do, as I can't see anything in Terminal other this:-

richard@richard-desktop:~$ gksudo nautilus

Initializing nautilus-gdu extension

and them a new window opens with Root File-Browser showing Desk top Folder that appears to be empty !

Where can I learn more about the use of Linux, and what books would recommend ?
