Can't get install to work

Asked by Molly Lumley

I own an HP mini netbook. I've had it for about 4 weeks and it works well. I've been trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 on it and after trying to install it twice it won't work. I installed the system on an 10 gb partition with a 2 gb swap partition. I keep getting this error message after installation: (usp/lib/libconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check2/exited with status 256. Plus I keep getting a message box in the upper right hand corner of my screen that says that the Gnome power management settings are wrong too. What have I been doing wrong? How can I make this work?
