package fancontrol (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: cannot access archive: No such file or directory

I was upgrading my 10.10 beta with the latest patches.
while doing so I ran almost out of disk space and start deleting old pkg in /var/cache/apt/archives
Not sure this information is relevant for you...

Can you please open a terminal and type

sudo apt-get clean

close terminal
run update manager again
