Asked by shahid mehmood

I have Dell,s dimension e310 dual core amd64 system having hard drive 80 gb and a pen drive of 16 gb.
according to UBUNTU,s website I have made a bootable USB drive. but my bios couldnot recognise this even I tried much but failed. I have changed the boot order but alas.
And when I try to install it allongwith Windows Xp then in the middle of instalation an error occurs ie IO Error 28 no space on device.
I could not understand this even I have 6 gb free space in c: and 9gb free space in D: and 10 gb free on pen drive.
can you resolve my problem

It would seem to me that you are trying to install Ubuntu on the C: drive - that will not happen. You need another partition on your hard drive - you can create it by booting the computer with the LiveCD and going into 'Try Ubuntu' and then using GParted, after which you would be able to install Ubuntu on the new partition. However, I would also suggest that to keep Windows running smoothly, you should keep at least 2 GB of free space on the C: drive, so you should move some data elsewhere to make more space before creating the partition. Ubuntu should be good with a 10GB partition if you do not install a whole lot of apps.

Dear sir
Ishall be thankful to you for this cool answer.
but the problem is this
I have no any live cd for UBUNTU.
I have directly download Ubuntu from their official site and have made my USB bootable according their instructions.
I have tried to install UBUNTU to partition d:/ (formated in fat32) having space of 10 GB.
But my DELL DIMENSION e310,s BIOS could not recognise my USB as bootable.
And when i try to instal it from WINDOWS XP INSTALER then in the middle of instalation following error occurs usually. for example log file and bitmap image file is attached with this email.
Can u tell me what device have no space.
Ishall be thankful if u solve my problem.
