Upgrade 9.10 to ubuntustudio

Asked by Marc

I am running 9.10. I have some of the multimedia software installed (ardour, jack et al). I want to run the studio version. Will this require a new install or can I upgrade?
Thanks
JM

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

then read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ubuntu%20Studio%20Upgrade%20from%20Ubuntu

You don't have to go through a new installation. You don't have to upgrade either actually. You can just install whichever of the group packages mentioned in Marco's link you want to have straight into your 9.10 system.

If you want to upgrade to 10.10 after it comes out next month, though, you'd probably find it easier to install afresh, rather than go through the two upgrade procedures (9.10 > 10.04 > 10.10).

Can you help with this problem?
