HP Dv7 dual boot help

Asked by jamiejones

I have an HP dv7 laptop, AMD Phenom II 2.2 Ghz tripple core, dual hard drives, One hard drive is blank, I want to add Ubuntu to it, and have Win 7 on the main hard drive. How could I do the dual boot with two different hard drives?

No particular problem to do that. However, here is how I would do it:

-install Windows 7 first. If it's already installed and working fine, perfect, nothing to do.
-install Ubuntu. It should offer you to use a specific drive when installing. Make sure you are specifying the empty drive. It should partition it automatically, then look for other systems on your computer, and offer both Ubuntu and 7 in the menu when you boot.

That's it, 30 minutes to install it, just make sure you make the right choice at the partition step.

Can you help with this problem?
