Hi,

Is it a USB based device? What is the result of command "lsusb"? Did you received any errors while following the guide?

Hi,

Did you received any errors while following the guide?

Did you restarted the Bluetooth services?
/etc/init.d/bluetooth restart

What is the result of the above command?

Hmmm... Sounds to me like somethings wrong with your USB port. Have you tried switching ports? Try putting it in the one your mouse is in now, that one works for sure.
Hope that helps...

Hi,

Following iGadget's, can you test the adapter on some other machines (Ubuntu or Linux) to make sure that the hardware works properly?

Sorry for no longer replying, I was running out of ideas, hopefully someone else can help.

Best regards,

I use the same bluetooth adapter. It works in windows using a software called "blue soleil".

lsusb gives the foll. output:
manoj@ubuntu:~$ hcitool dev
Devices:
manoj@ubuntu:~$ lsusb
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 1131:1001 Integrated System Solution Corp. KY-BT100 Bluetooth Adapter
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

However, hcitool returns empty:

manoj@ubuntu:~$ hcitool dev
Devices:
manoj@ubuntu:~$

i have also tried updating ubuntu but the problem persists.

Do you still have a problem with the device? It should be supported, according to http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdev.php?id=3915 . Manoj Nair's reply shows that his bluetooth dongle was found by 'ubuntu' (Bus 1 Device 3, with ID 1131:1001). This entry doesn't show up in naufal's lsusb outputs, which means that 'pyan-laptop' wasn't able to detect the bluetooth dongle.

Naufal, if you need more help on getting it to work on your laptop, please look at the file /var/log/messages while plugging in the usb device on your laptop in a couple of usb ports. If any new messages are printed, include them in your reply. (You can watch the file using System->Administration->System Log, then choose 'messages' and scroll down completely; or if you rather use the command-line, execute "tail -f /var/log/messages".)

Manoj Nair, if you need help in getting the dongle to work, please open a new question and post a note (or link) here, so we can avoid answering two questions in one thread.
