Hmmm... Sounds to me like somethings wrong with your USB port. Have you tried switching ports? Try putting it in the one your mouse is in now, that one works for sure.
Hope that helps...

Hi,
Following iGadget's, can you test the adapter on some other machines (Ubuntu or Linux) to make sure that the hardware works properly?
Sorry for no longer replying, I was running out of ideas, hopefully someone else can help.
Best regards,
Flavius

I use the same bluetooth adapter. It works in windows using a software called "blue soleil".
lsusb gives the foll. output:
manoj@ubuntu:~$ hcitool dev
Devices:
manoj@ubuntu:~$ lsusb
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 1131:1001 Integrated System Solution Corp. KY-BT100 Bluetooth Adapter
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
However, hcitool returns empty:
manoj@ubuntu:~$ hcitool dev
