battery charge monitor does not work...

Asked by FredLC

I have activated the battery charge monitor(placed it at the bottom right of the screen, where it susallystays at windows.

While the symbol appears normally, it always present that the system is functioning plugged on energy, and "no battery is present"... even when I do take it out of power and it's working exclusively with the battery...

What should I do to get that specific function working?

Regards :).

Hey FredLC, I had a similar problem until I realized that it was a very simple problem to fix.

I find that the battery charge monitor applet that you are referring to added via using add to panel is always displaying the same icon..?
Do not use this! instead go to 'System > Preferences > Power Management' then choose the 'General' tab, you will then be presented with several options one of which is the 'Notification Area' section there you will see 'Always display an icon' this will constantly show the correct battery monitor in your notification area.. the reason why you don't see it normally is because it would only show up when power is critically low?? most laptops would be ready to turn of by this stage! You may also want to set your 'On battery power' options and so on when in there if you have not already.

hope this helps. Paddy

p.s. If you specifically want to use the Battery Charge Monitor applet then you may have to increase the size of your panel so that it can use the other icon to represent a battery as well otherwise it just stays the same and also reports the same information as if it where plugged in?

Can you help with this problem?
