Keyboard doesn't work

Asked by mikehi

Sometimes during bootup gnome loads but the keyboard doesn't work. Mouse works fine. Seems like something is clobbering the keyboard driver perhaps? Happens often enough to be annoying but not a show stopper since pressing the reset button makes it boot at least to the command line with the keyboard driver working. Gnome doesn't load about 50 percent of the time and I must log in at the command line and load it manually using sudo gdm.

Dual boot with win7, dual core 2.9 GHz AMD, 4 GB RAM, 64-bit Lucid, all updates current. PS2 Mouse & keyboard, not USB.

Thank You for any suggestions.

Try:

gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf

add this line:

option psmouse proto=imps

Save the new file and reboot, is it nicer?
