booting goes to initramfs

Asked by marcus aurelius

I just downloaded and installed the 3 important security updates for 10.04.
Interestingly, this is the first time I've seen the message that I must restart the computer to complete the install.
Now, when I boot, I'm taken to initramfs and there's an alert saying that one of my partitions do not exist.

It's common regarding kernel image updates.

e.g. changelog for 32bit. (Which is what you're able to view when using update manager)

In case report a regression.

Consider to boot from another kernel (via boot menu).

If you manipulated grub.cfg it wont survive the next update.
In case repair Grub.

Recent windoze convert here, so I haven't touched Grub.
No boot menu, as my netbook is entirely on ubuntu and I have no idea about running other kernels.
Anyways, I can just re-install ubuntu and log a regression.

> No boot menu

As the posted link (No delay for boot menu with GRUB 2) suggested, please try:
To interrupt the boot, users can hold down the Shift key to bring up the boot menu...

If this doesn't work try [Esc] key.

Can you help with this problem?
