Boot problem. Howt to restore data and install Ubuntu for Compaq Laptop C300

Asked by Corey Thomas

Long story short, I was having problems connecting to the internet so I decided to move from win xp to ubuntu.
The transition was seamless, but the internet was not registering in Ubuntu and my xp was becoming overloaded with viruses. So I hit pc recovery and then panicked when I realized I didn't have some files backed up. So I shut the Comp down in the process.
Now then is a boot Problem I need help solving...Can I actually reload the system with the ubuntu sytem on a usb disc even though my hd and nothing else is registering in dos?

You can access the NTFS from the liveCD. You should always make sure backups are recent before undertaking ANY large system change.

You can then wipe out all the partitions and install Ubuntu to 100% of the disk space.

Will be fine. Ensure you check the cD for defects before using it, too.

Can you help with this problem?
