Redhat model for Ubuntu

Asked by Ashok Mohan

I have installed ubuntu 10. Before ubuntu , I have installed RHEL. I am a frequent programmer in JSP. So I want to use Terminal frequently. This was just easy in RHEL coz we can open terminal in RHEL or CentOS by rightclicking anywhere in Desktop and click on terminal whereas it not easy in ubuntu. Can we have RHEL like features in ubuntu?

You can open a terminal in one of these ways first:

1 - Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal
2 - Alt+F2 then type in gnome-terminal then click run

Once you have the terminal open please run this: sudo aptitude install nautilus-open-terminal

Now when you right click you should see a menu option that has 'Open in Terminal"

You can install guake and add it into the startup programs.

Typing F12 opens your terminal and with F11 you can toggle between fullscreen

You could also set up a keyboard shortcut, either through System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts, or through "Commands" in CompizConfig Settings Manager. For example, I use Super-t to open a terminal.

Can you help with this problem?
