google earth crashes on my laptop with 9.10

Asked by Edmond

Installed google earth with no complications. But when google earth is started, seconds after the startup window appears with the image of the earth and other windows appear, they just disappear. typed in the command line: ~/google-earth/googleearth and it started the app again, and after it crashed again, i got the following:

(process:2566): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.22.3/gobject/gtype.c:2458: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function

(process:2566): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed

(process:2566): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed
Google Earth has caught signal 11.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but Google Earth has crashed.
This is a bug in the program, and should never happen under normal
circumstances. A bug report and debugging data have been written
 to this text file:

    /home/cpq1/.googleearth/crashlogs/crashlog-4c91f87b.txt

Please include this file if you submit a bug report to Google.

Unfortunately the crashlog-4c91f87b.txt could not be found, even with the search feature on the toolbar

Thanks for you help.

Then rerun it.

It didn't work. Ran "rm -r /home/cpq1/.googleearth" on the command line. Died after trying to boot up.

It's an old bug, I use to have the same problem...

Do you have 3D card configured? Do you have enough RAM memory? Are you sure you have the latest stable version of Googleearth? then go to /opt/googleearth directory or the directory where googleearth was installed and move file libcrypto.so.0.9.8 to libcrypto.so.0.9.8.bak.

If that doesn't work try deleting your .googleearth folder in your home folder and restart the program again.

Can you help with this problem?
