windows vs ubuntu

i would like to know the best os out there is it windows xp or ubuntu linux or some other one let me know asap my win xp is a little slow some times and it gets stuck for a min but it starts to work fine after a min or 2

It's not as easy as that. Windows and GNU/Linux are completely different systems with different strengths. If you need to run alot of Windows applications and games, then Windows is the best choice. If you need it for general office and internet use, and don't rely on Windows-only applications, then Ubuntu is a very good choice. You'll just have to find out for yourself. Fortunately, the Ubuntu Desktop CDs and DVDs are bootable, so you can experiment with it without installing anything.

thank you for letting me know i will try it out on live cd first then make up my mind
