Cannot install ubuntu in VMware

Asked by Li Li

I try to install ubuntu in VMware environment,
unfortunately it fails.
Laptop: Windows XP service pack 3
ubuntun image: ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso
VMware version: 5.0.
The steps:
1. I create a new VMware machine by select other linux because ubuntu is not on the list;
2. I add the image file to the CD-ROM;
3. I run the VMware machine;
4. It do work because a menu shows to let me select try ubuntu without installing or install;
5. I select install ubuntu, however, the screen goes complete black without showing anything.

Have someone met this issue before?
Does someone know how to fix it?
Thanks a lot.
Waiting for the reply.

I can't curently help you, but I remember someone else had this problem on this forum. Try to edit question and search package related to vmware. In list of questions related to it, you should find answer.
