Can't install Ubuntu 10.04 over XP Pro
Totally new to Ubuntu, but love it on my laptop. When it came to my older desktop, I found that I can't install Ubuntu 10.04 over XP Pro - always stops at 33% - like there's something halting it, but XP reinstalls fine... I checked the disk, and no errors. I tried the normal i386 install, and that happened, so I read in one of the forums to try the alternate. I downloaded that, and everything installed fine, the same as before, until it gets to the partition part. Here it halts at 33% (I left it trying overnight, and it was still trying to partition in the morning). So, I rebooted, reinstalled XP Pro, and defragged a few times. Then I tried Ubuntu install again. Same thing, 3rd time. Please, can anyone help? I'd really love to have Ubuntu on my desktop, too... sick of Microsoft.
