Signing code of conduct - one error, no data

Asked by Chethan S.

According to the instructions given in https://launchpad.net/codeofconduct/1.1/+sign I tried signing the ubuntu code of conduct. I successfully generated UbuntuCodeofConduct-1.1.txt.asc file. Then I used the command gpg -d UbuntuCodeofConduct-1.1.txt.asc to open the file. However when I pasted the text into the area given I got the error - There is 1 error and No Data.

I actually copied all the text in the file as follows:

= Ubuntu Code of Conduct v1.1 =
........................................................

gpg: Signature made Sunday 12 September 2010 06:53:57 AM IST using RSA key ID CCCCCCCC
gpg: Good signature from "Chethan S. <email address hidden>"

Have I done anything wrong? I tried deleting the first line, last line, last two lines but the error remained the same. Please help.

I followed the same kind of instructions - I copy the text from the terminal to the "Signed Code" field of the webpage. But when I click "Continue" this error is displayed -

There is 1 error
No Data

Its rather unfortunate, we should say. I hope the command used by me to open the .asc file is correct.

gpg -d UbuntuCodeofConduct-1.1.txt.asc

If that's right, I will keep trying and will finally sign it one day.

I signed the code of conduct finally. I used to open it in terminal using the above said command as there was an issue of opening it with gedit. Now I opened it in gedit and I must say, the contents were different from what I saw in the terminal output. I pasted the output to click continue and got an acknowledgement email from launchpad.
