Didn't get Ubuntu Christian Ed in the download

Asked by Melvin Owens

When I downloaded and installed "Ubuntu Christian Edition" there was NOTHING 'Christian' in the package. I've got several distro's of Linux if I just wanted to load one. Where's the 'Christian' software and wallpaper? I went ahead and ordered a CD but I don't know if the Christian Edition is on it. How can I tell my other Christian friends how it is if what they say it comes with is not there? Also why do you make things hard on those of us that don't have a great memory and force us to use YOUR codes and passwords instead of our own. The ignorance and stupidity of 'criminal intent' is exactly that, ignorant and stupid! Sooner or later and I hope sooner a good hacker is going to teach all these people a lesson and stop you from making things too complicated for people with disabilities. And get rid of your stupid 'type these stupid looking characters in the box'. And you force us to have a confusing set of characters for our passwords instead of our own.---------Any ways I would greatly appreciate the Ubuntu Christian Edition if I can get it! Thanks

Firstly, the christian ubuntu isn't supported here as it is not a Canonical release.

What are you talking about with "your codes". It doesn't make any sense. Also, great job. Here is a synopsis of your text above:

"Please answer my question you ignorant bunch of stupid people"

Bet that mentality gets you real far in life. We are happy to help but if you are just going to name call (not very Christian of you) then why should we even give you the time of day??

Ignorant people see ignorant things! Too bad I have to spell it out for you! The picture shown about Ubuntu Christian Edition shows Christ wallpaper. That's not there! It also says that you get e-Sword and other Bible study software! Also none of that was there . The Constitution of the United States gives everyone - but I guess not Linux users - the right to freedom of speech and expression. Nothing in what was said was derogatory only the truth. And it was not targeted to Linux. But applies to any software that uses - for lack of a better term - 'negative' codes. As far as a 'code of conduct' as far as I'm concerned if your an Internet user 'code of conduct' applies to ALL without exception. I would have liked to have gotten the Christian version unfortunately it looks like a waste of time. Don't get me wrong but I do think that eventually Linux will go past Microsoft. And for good reason. Sorry you read was wasn't said or implied! But I guess your right it's better to buy the software from a book rather than take the chance of getting a wrong download. Linux Thorvald was a genius and really cared about people. He deserves to be thanked - greatly!

He does. Linux isn't about "overtaking" windows. An OS is a tool for a job. If Windows can do the job which a system is designated to do better than Linux. I will install Windows. SImilarly if there are better options using MacOS for what the system is intended to achieve then the Mac will be purchased. Linux is not the best OS, none of them are. They simply excel in different areas and personallyI think bug #1 is a bit of a joke and makes the community look a little pathetic.

As for the Christian Ubuntu, I suggest you take it up with the guys whom develop it. There are many spinoff OSes based on Ubuntu which are nothing to do with Canonical so are not supported in the official channels. Here is a list of some of them:
http://www.debianadmin.com/list-of-ubuntu-based-linux-distributions-and-live-cds.html

Ubuntu, KUbuntu, XUbuntu and Medibuntu are made by Canonical and there content is controlled by them and supported in the official methods. As Canonical are not controlling the stuff in the other releases it makes them hard to support as the developers may have there own repositorys with differently compiled debs which we simply cannot accommodate due to the vast array of possibilities.

The code of conduct is very positive and it basically says "be excellent to each other". The Christian version may adhere to this code, or not. This is entirely their call but again, they don't have to as it is not made by Canonical. I suggest you email the Christian Ubuntu guys with all this stuff as that is the correct place to send it. From what I have seen, the Christian edition just has a PDF of the Bible and some CHristian based backgrounds which you can easily apply to a Canonical release and get the same thing but with significantly improved support as it won't be some hack OS.

Thank you for this very possitive response. You guys are doing great. Windows gets kind of frustrating at times.
