D-link WUA and grub boot disk

Asked by Dakunesu

first one
i have recently purchased a D-Link WUA(wireless usb adapter) and it runs perfect on WinXP,
Ubuntu(live) seemes to react to it and can detect wireless connections however it cannot connect to any of them.

is there some way to get it to connect, or is it because i am running it off of the CD?

Second
is there a way to make a grub boot disk, that isnt installed or modifies the copmuters boot process unless the disk is in?
like it will boot normally as if ubuntu doesnt exist on it unless the GRUB disk is in

i havent installed Ubuntu because im not sure if question 2 can be done and if from the install menu.

THX for you time

Allright, update: boot problem kinda fixed, i swapped slave and master drives and it boots from grub(i have to mod to boot commands manually at start) but it wont boot XP. it freezes at the "loading..." screen.
im half way there installing the d-link wua, i installed useing wine but something isnt working in ndiswrapper.
it returnes errors when using the 'make uninstall' 'make' 'make install' commands.
anyone any clue on whats wrong?
