Installing mplayerplug-in for Google Chrome

I recently downloaded the mplayerplug-in for Chrome: mplayerplug-in-0.4.xpi. Need procedure to install this file so that it can be used by Google Chrome. Thanks.

Install gecko-mediaplayer from synaptic.Open Chrome and in address bar type about:plugins and see if plugin is installed.Gecko-mediaplayer is replacemant for mplayerplug-in.

I installed, gnome-mplayer. In my about:plugins I see the Totem plugin that says is replacement for windows media player. Is this more or less the same thing? How do I test it?

Try it on some site,but I don´t understand why didn´t you just instal gecko-mediaplayer.That is plugin you are looking for.

NO, I have gecko-mediaplayer installed and no plugin in google chrome
