How to stop dmraid in 10.4

Asked by anders on 2010-09-07

My software raid is unclean, dmesg tells me 'md: kicking non-fresh sde6 from array!'. When trying to re-add it with mdadm, I get 'Device busy'. After investigation (see the mdadm Wikipedia page) I get the impression that dmraid has grabbed sde6. How do I disable dmraid in 10.4? I have tried to update /etc/default/grub's line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nodmraid quiet splash", executed sudo update-grub2 and rebooted. Still dmraid is running after reboot (accordingly to ps), and still I get the mdadm 'Device busy' message. Looking into /proc/cmdline shows that 'nodmraid' is included in the boot parameters. So anyone that knows how to stop dmraid?

thanks /anders
