totem dumped in core

Asked by Vitaly Kovalyshyn

I just upgrade to Gutsy Gibbon Tribe 5 from 7.04.
Video doesn't work! Totem core dumped:
(totem:25470): Gtk-WARNING **: Invalid input string

(totem:25470): Gtk-WARNING **: Invalid input string

(totem:25470): Gtk-WARNING **: Invalid input string
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I tried to play video in mplayer and VLC - the same problem - crash!
But mplayer with " -vo x11 " works o.k.
Xine - crash, gstream - crash. Only mplayer with x11 video driver work.
I'm using on laptop Compaq nx7400 (VIDEO: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS/940GML)
May be it's X.org problem, because my friend has laptop with Intel PCI-E video, and he has the same problem.

Please, help! I wont to watch movies!!! :'(

it sounds like you have graphics card problems, all these programs are trying to enable an 'XV' video mode which enables nice smooth video resizing but your graphics card is causing this mode to crash.

you can turn this xv video mode into an x11 video mode by selecting it in the video tab of the gstreamer-properties program (you may have to launch it from a terminal if it is not in your system menu)

I've changed driver in the xorg.conf
Ubuntu 7.10 set video driver to "intel"
I rewrite to "i810" and VLC and MPlayer start to play movies, but Totem still crash....

Gutsy gibbon is still beta software, its advisable to stick to released versions of ubuntu (anything upto and including feisty fawn)

Can you help with this problem?
