they are all 'distos' based on linux.
ubuntu is based on the gnome desktop environment
knopix is a 'livecd' (meaning it runs from the cd not installed) and is based on the kde desktop environment
puppy linux is another 'livecd' but designed around the idea of being able to remove the cd once it is loaded and thus is less ram heavy than knopix.
