Boot from Hard Drive

Hi ,

I am New to Ubuntu, I Downloaded the CD 6.06 from the website, How do i install the OS on the Hard Drive or i have to use the CD every time and key in the information every time i boot

Hi Flavius,

Thanks for you reply,i seee that option on the website graphic install page now , in the prepare diisk , i use the manual option #3 its shows me choices and then i choose one / mount and one more partition as swap ( i have four) it starts installing and then vanishes i never get a choice for Continue /install any ideas , thanks for your help

Could you please give some more details on the "vanishes" part? What exactly happens, does the PC reboot or it turns off by itself?

Also try to check the CD in order to make sure that it does not have writing errors, described at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck. Sometimes reboots happens due to faulty hardware, also try to run a memory test (the option appears when you boot from the CD).
