Windows to Linux - Directory Structure

Asked by Nick Knudson

I have finally made the switch to Linux from Windows. My issue is that all my files are meticulously arranged in directories such as picture albums and music artist/album. If I understand it correctly, Linux emulates the Windows NTFS structure keeping all paths looking like Windows paths '\'. Is there anything I can do to easily keep this structure but have my files reside natively '/'?

Your own files are all referring to your user home directory and you can't write to the / root directory because this is a file system permission protected directory...

So i quite don't understand your problem... this is a different (more protected and secure) operative system than Windows.

Plase explain better your issue with your music directory structure...

I'm sorry, I was having issues yesterday where files would appear as: "./nick/Music/Library\Artist\Album". This seems to no longer be the issue. Thanks for your time.
