GNOME RDP V 3.0 Error retreiving password

Asked by Kino Velez

Ubuntu Lucid 64 as the OS on HP Pavillion DV5 while trying to connect to Windows 7 via Gnome RDP

I have found many web pages on the subject non that will resolve my problem

This is the error I get down to the misspelled "retreiving "

Error: Error retreiving password for \kino at 192.168.2.101:rdp
Information: Creating process for rdesktop -u kino -p <password> -k en-us -g 800x600 -f -a 24 -z -x l -0 -5 -r sound:local 192.168.2.101
Error: ERROR: recv: Connection reset by peer

I have no problem with connecting to the (.101) Windows 7 computer via RDP from another windows computer or from the same computer using a virtual machine running windows 7.

I can connect from Ubuntu to the (.101) if I use Terminal Server Client VNC connection

Why does Gnome -RDP give me this error/

I figured this one out myself. Problem caused by selecting on the Windows 7 machine Remote Desktop Settings "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with network Level Authentication (more secure)"
Gnome does not use NLA. Fixed by changing to "Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)" is is now working.
