xubuntu vs ubuntu and Huawei 1550

Asked by Martti Jokinen

Hi
I am using 9.10 and Huawei 1552 with success. Because of lack memory I loaded xubuntu-desktop with Synaptic trying to have faster interface. When I selected xubuntu in login and inserted Huawei I got the qhuestion if running of Mobile Partner/ autorun.exe is allowed. First I denied this and the stick was not working. I reboot system and inserted usb stick, I got the same question and allowed running of autorun.exe and stick started to work " - I had connection to this page. Gnome has never asked running of autorun.exe but connection has been working. Why gnome and xfc4 are not behaving same way.

You will need usb-modeswitch to make the device switch from being a USB storage device to being a network adapter

The autorun stuff is handled differently between the 2 desktops.
