My download/ cd's to install ubuntu seem to consistently have errors.

I got part way (43%) through installation and got an error message that there was a problem with the files (basically, i got far enough to wipe my old system but not far enough to install-- so my computer's worthless to me!). I read support documents and learned about checking the integrity of the CD. It had an error in one file. I re-downloaded and the MD 5 Sum hashes don't match-- not even close. (not sure I said that right; never heard of that before). Is there anything that could be causing my downloads to have errors? Is there a better way to get the ISO?
