Can't change screen resoution

Asked by ellysium

I am not able to change my screen resolution for some reason. I have gone to the 'system' menu / preferences / screen resolution and it will only show me 640x480, I should like to increase this in order to accomodate a whole window on my screen. Can anybody help me please.

Hi,
What video card do you have??
you can find this out by opening a terminal window and typing:
sudo lspci
and this will give a lot of info about all the devices on your computer..
