dual boot system problem sharing files

laptop linux 10.04 (ubuntu) and windows 7 (dual boot system)
desktop windows xp pro
linux can locate xp pro and its files but xp pro can't see ubuntu on laptop, only windows 7
Ubuntu using ext4 file system, found with cat /etc/fstab

I think your best bet after a bit of forum browsing and searching is ext2read at http://ext2read.blogspot.com/
the project is located at sourceforge here http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2read/ . A couple of other suggestions were using a pen drive (very lame) or making a NTFS data partition so that your files can be accessed by either operating system.

I think you have to install the ext2read program in XP so that it can read the files on your linux partition not the other way around. Ubuntu can read any Windows partition without modification.

tried that. the ex2read program doesn't know where to look and can't be pointed at the network.
