Unable to print webpages from Firefox

Asked by Russell Murray

I am running 10.4. I can print test pages okay and pages from Open Office but when I try to print a webpage from Firefox all I get (after several minutes delay) is

PCL XL error
               Subsystem: KERNEL
               Error: IllegalTag
Operator: 0x plus a two-digit number that varies each time
Position: A six digit number that also varies every time, even if it's the same webpage

Try adding the mozilla PPA. It may help:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade

Then rerun the browser, is it any better? You may need to log a bug.

YES!!! Thanks so much - that was all I've been using Windows for since I made the switch, now I can go totally Linux.

Was a guess, seems the build in the Lucid repo is quite broken. I always advise grabbing the PPA one first. There is also firefox 4 on that PPA as well as alpha versions of Thunderbird if that floats you boat. I don't use either but some people like it
